Operative Wisdom is written by me, Mason Herron. I am a Partner at Edgewater Strategies, a political consulting and public affairs firm based in San Diego, CA.
I started working in politics in 2008 as a Congressional intern during a summer while I was attending the University of Pittsburgh, and started receiving a paycheck from politics in 2011.
Over the past decade, I have worked for dozens – but likely more than 100 – different political candidates in some way or form. I have also run many ballot measure campaigns and provided consulting services for "independent expenditure" campaigns.
Most of my time is now spent providing strategic advice and political services to organizations who want to maximize their political influence and effectiveness. However, I still run a handful of local political campaigns every election cycle.
I also built The Ballot Book, a website dedicated to tracking data regarding campaigns and elections in San Diego County.
